The Interview: Requirements and Tips

After application you will be notified of your interview date. You will be interviewed by a member of the Art Departments teaching staff. The interview usually lasts between 10 and 15 minutes.

You will need to bring a selection of work or portfolio to your interview. If you are applying to Art or to Fashion we need to see examples of your drawing ability. Bring whatever drawing you have including still life, figure drawing, colour, painting, collage etc.

You can also bring things you may have made for example, clay, sculptures, stitch, garments, weaving etc. If you have some experience in sewing or garment construction bring these with you too.

You don’t need to have everything on the list above so don’t worry if you don’t have a huge amount of work but you must have some. Your application will not proceed if you do not have examples of artwork at the interview as we can not judge your suitability for the course without them.

It is always helpfull to know about the course you are applying for before your interview so take some time to go through the course information and content on the “Course Details” page and on the “Home page”.

These courses are portfolio preparation courses designed to help you move on to Art or Fashion at 3rd level, be prepared to answer questions about what you might like to do after a year at Coláiste Ide.

Best Of Luck!
